3RD RACE OF THE SEASON A SUCCESS!

The third race this year was almost a total loss. I wasn't able to raise enough money up until the last minute. I received a call late on Thursday afternoon from Matt Bryan down in Dallas Texas
of " M.G.Bryan Equipment Company " He was able to help me make this rainy weekend a reality.

I left For Sonoma on Thursday night hoping i could find a spot in the Friday practice because the track configuration was going to be a new faster version with the access to the hairy 120 mph right hand turn 10. Sure enough with the weak dropping out because of rain on the forecast I managed to find a open seat on the practice session. Worked my way up to speed learning the new configuration.
Saturday qualifying was cold and the rain was on it's way. I managed to grab 6th in qualifying. Then Then Rain Came! We switched to rain tires and they sent us off. Two people spun on the warm up laps before the race even started. Every one spun at least once during the race. I grabbed 5th spot in my first rain race.

The Sunday morning was clearing and the sun was out. The track was still wet so they let us loose on the track in our road cars to dry the track. A couple of drifts here and there in the M3 was a good morning wake up session.
The sun was going to stay and the lap times were going to be dropping. I qualified 5th in the B race and was out qualified by the scholarship winner by 2 tenths of a second. I then knew who I had to beat to show them they made the wrong decision.

Sure enough after the rough start and a tap on the rear I was slowly gaining on him. I finally passed him in turn 7 after he went wide. I was gone from there hunting down 3rd place. I ran out of skill and time. 4th it was . No wrecks no spins ,a whole lot of experience. Thanks to Matt and Meg Nishibori for their last minute notice hospitality. Thanks to Julie Knudsen for keeping me sane and focused during the scary weekend an a big thank you of course to Matt Bryan for making this weekend possible.

I am currently 12th in points out of the 52 racers in the series. I'm looking forward to race number 4 of the 9 race series. I need to keep on raising the funds to complete the season.
